How ratings, rankings and indicators work
TheGlobeScore brings together two kinds of information: experiences shared by users and indicators from identified datasets. They remain separate so you can understand what each result measures.

Every review includes an overall rating from one to five stars. The twelve criteria are optional. The overall average is the arithmetic mean of published overall ratings; each criterion uses only reviews that rate that criterion. Contribution counts are displayed to help interpret each average.
An overall-only rating still counts in the average even though it is not shown in the detailed reviews list. That list shows reviews with a comment, photos or extra criteria. City reviews are not automatically converted into reviews of the surrounding region or country.
Rankings and review order
Place rankings let you choose a criterion, a place type and a minimum number of ratings. Only places with ratings for the requested ranking are included. City filters also include country and population.
The most-popular review order uses likes without subtracting dislikes. The most-commented order uses reply counts. Your own review can appear first when you are signed in. These sorting choices do not change the star average.
Statistical indicators
World indicators draw on sources including UNDP, the World Bank, Reporters Without Borders, Transparency International and V-Dem, depending on the indicator. French and US datasets have their own sources and coverage, including statistical agencies and public datasets.
Check the year, unit and territory: indicators released at different dates do not necessarily describe the same period. National, regional and local observations remain attached to their own geographic level. Community ratings are not used to fill missing statistical values.
Missing data and limitations
No data means that the integrated dataset has no usable value for that place and indicator. It does not mean zero, or that no source could ever exist. Areas without data remain distinct on the map.
Reviews are voluntary and are not a representative survey. Comments can be reported and moderated. For an important decision, compare several sources and check current local conditions. Data or boundary errors can be reported to 72addict@gmail.com.
